As for my final post of the blog, I would like to conclude what I have learned from this module. I am a master’s student and studying in International Business. I have joined the Digital Business module in 2020. Due to the courses and assessments, I got different study experience than previous. For example, writing blogs, comment other’s essay and know information from classmates and tutors.
To be more specific, this is my first time to setting up a website and post blogs on the internet. I discovered that there are plenty of numerous details that should be noted. For example, not only write content but also decide the layouts, avoid too much text, add pictures and videos as appropriate are both important factors. Learning to find focus and probably organize for the audiences is the most impressive focus.
In respect of giving comments to other writers, accept different opinions and rational communication. Be more focused on learning new knowledge, writing skills, and typography skills from colleagues. The below images are the comments of my feeling after reading the articles. Figure 1 and 2 are for post 1. Then, figures 3 and 4 are for post 2.
Search info and submit the assessment is one way to absorb new knowledge, look at other blogs’ posts and comment on them is another way to gain information. It can be understanding from distinct views and obtain new awareness from other industries.
After finish the courses, I found that the internet plays a big part in our life especially the digital technique. People can get information and also may get work because of it. It is seen that it is hard to live without the internet nowadays. For instance, the coronavirus makes people need to study and work at home recently, the online system and skills become necessary to most people.
Owing to this module, I learned new skills like writing blogs, recording videos in different ways and making good use of digital technology. This might improve my ability and develop personal possibilities, specifically which relative to my major. It probably brings good career development to business school students. Finally, the video is the summary of my reflection to this module and the preliminary future plan.
Since the continuous development of technology, numbers of industries have changed its business pattern. In terms of taking away service, Deliveroo plays a significant part in the delivery platform in many countries, especially in the UK.
Deliveroo (2020) is a food delivery platform that providing customers to go service, which was founded by William Shu in London in 2013. People could order meals from home or firm through their mobile phones or laptops. Simply follow the process, and press certain buttons. After complete the payment, consumers can acquire the meal without entering to physical food store. Deliveroo’s main mission is to change the method that customers eat. Offer a large number of restaurant selections to satisfy everyone’s needs. Their target is that reduce people’s waiting time to get the best quality of service and convenience.
William Shu told the reason why he wanted to start to run his business from the following video. He mentioned that people usually have to take away by themselves or rely on the store delivery service a few years ago. However, which normally causes a bad quality of food such as received a cold meal or spending too much time waiting. So, Shu thought that having a platform could integrate the takeaway and door to door service might solve the problem.
The speech made me think back that buying several shops’ food at one time and waiting for store service indeed cause unwell food and inconvenient experience. There were few restaurants provide delivery service many years ago, people usually eat in the store. But not long after, certain food delivery businesses spring up, it becomes common to see them on the street nowadays.
As you can see, below images show the process of how a consumer could order their meals. Supplying a wide range of restaurants choose base on your location, rate and hot option are also provided. Remember online payment operating can reduce the length of the next transaction time. In the final step (Macvean, 2019), the consumer could track the order by their phone, know which step is going on now. Adding animations on each section of the order, give a please experience to the customer. When the rider picks up the order, the customer may emerge exciting from seeing the image keep moving through the map. In addition, the app also presents the rider’s name, this might raise the interaction between buyers and sellers when the order has arrived.
The article (Singh, 2019) illustrated that Deliveroo carries out a new algorithm called “Frank” It could predict the best route according to the distance of consumer, rider, and restaurant. Machine learning assists to forecast the time to prepare meals. This helps decreases 20% of delivery time. Digitalisation leads to convenience and good experience, which can help the company attract new customers and bring old customer repurchase to operate a great margin.
After constantly innovation and development, Deliveroo (2020) now cooperates with 35,000 restaurants in over 200 cities. The team has 30,000 riders to support this company to achieve its mission. It can be found the annual revenue of Deliveroo has increased dramatically from 2015 to 2018 through the analysis (Companies House, 2019). 2018’s revenue was roughly 26 times compared to 2015.

In particular, most of the aspects are strongly connected with technology, it is clear that digitalisation does change the corporate’s business model and digital is likely to increases its chances of success.
Since ancient times, everything in the world has been constantly changing, and human records prove this fact. It could be found that people live dramatically different than 10,000 years ago. After years of development, the generation has come to the fourth industrial revolution. Due to the rapid development of technology, numerous jobs are in danger of extinction. The article is going to discuss how the newspaper industry has been altered in the last twenty years.
The journal (Sohn, 2005) illustrated that humans change the way of receiving news especially youth, they do not rely on the newspaper to obtain information nowadays. Television, radio, and the internet help people to acquire messages rapidly. As for the functional, the website discussion boards give the audience a space to communicate with other readers, enhance the real-time interaction and gain experience from the review.
Additionally, blogs and forums empower the resident to express their opinion, make discussion and analysis after understanding events, this may promote the public conversation. With the website pages, people could choose the relative issue for further study or search the topic directly to which interest them. This might increase the opportunity that makes the audience spending more time on the platform and create user loyalty. However, the same situation is hardy happen in the print newspaper.
At the beginning of the video gave an example that how does the internet boost a minor event and get unexpected results. There are plenty of cases displayed that a non-famous person had done something and spread through the internet, but the person becomes well-known at the end of the incident. The video also refers that how do the digital platforms influence each other and the newspaper industry. For instance, people might attempt new programs or follow information because of their friends’ recommendations. Sharing posts or news from the user’s social media is a method to extend the influence scope. Justified by the same reason, newspapers are not likely to achieve an equal result.
Ofcom (2019) showed that the newspaper circulation yield saw a gradual decrease, which was 21.9 million and 10.4 million in 2010 and 2018, respectively. Moreover, they also provided data about the readership between print and online newspapers. All above conclude that print newspaper faces a dilemma, the sales volume, and the existence necessity. Owing to the reduction of the newspaper circulation, Pew research center (2019) revealed that the newsroom staff in newspaper publishers dropped suddenly from 2008 to 2018, roughly 33 thousand employees have changed or lost their job.

As mentioned earlier, the newspaper circulation yield decline year by year, people usually read news from print papers in the past, yet, they select technology items such as smartphone or tablet to receive information in today’s society.
Utko (2009) gave an example of his experience., as a newspaper designer, he knows that the newspaper industry is dying. However, he trusts that people could grasp the concept and redesign objects. Even though they are obsolete, which probably can improve current job status. After several years of hard work, he proved his faith and made the newspaper consumption far high than previously.
Although a great number of data manifests that print newspaper circulation has been fallen for decades year, there might have some space for physical newspaper. Digital indeed brings benefits and convenience to society, but feeling such as touch and emotion cannot be replaced so far. So, my own view is that the newspaper might still be continuing to decline in the future but not disappear.
